October looks to be a great month for my films!
“Lights Out, Berlin!”, my debut feature documentary is screening in Ghent/Belgium (Ghent Film Festival), Tirana/Albania(DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival & in Amsterdam/Netherlands (Amsterdam Independent Film Festival).
“Electric Shoes”, the music video that I directed for Graig Walker & The Cold feat. Mark Reader is travelling in
Niksic/Montenegro for Balkans Beyond Borders Film Festival and in Amsterdam Independent Film Festival later in the month.
My 2016 short film about human trafficking, “Monica”, is going also to Amsterdam Independent Film Festival and lastly the medium length documentary, “Zorbas In Verona” screened in Athens, Greece (Metaphor Gallery). What I can say! I am a happy film director… at least this month!

Decision: Filming dialogues with direct sound inside a moving bus is quite a technical challenge that the sound engineer managed to overcome with flying colors in this beautiful short film, whose soundtrack is perfectly designed and mixed.

Another film that continues to unravel this feeling is Impulse, as in „a sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act.“ The protagonist is a girl who’s trying to do her daily routine, go to work, deal with people, save her reputation, while spending a lot of time alone, ignoring her thoughts. Because, if you ignore them long enough, they’ll go away, right?
She’s seeing other people, as a part of the famous „moving on“ thing, and she says that She can hear Him calling, but the sense is irrelevant. He is the one who isn’t there. He is not the one kissing her neck right now, so why is she hearing his voice? However, she is certain that, one of these days, the voice will go away, if she continues to ignore it and keeps repeating the same routine she always does. Because, other people don’t care about what she feels, she has to keep going to work, pretending as if nothing happened, because the whole world doesn’t stop if your own world crushes at one moment. The traffic lights will still go from red to yellow and green. Apparently nobody cares, so you shouldn’t as well. And it will pass, as everything passes. In the meantime, you can only comfort yourself the same way the protagnist in this movie does – You can’t miss someone forever.

On May 27 the release of the almanac "Film7Days" starts at Russian cinema theatres. These are 10 short films that were shot by international teams from different countries on the territory of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan. Each film combines deep meaning with the beauty of Kazan and the city's environs. The project was initiated by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2019.

at Estuar Foundation between July 4th and December 26th, in Bucharest
at UBIS Club between September 10th and October 17th, in Bucharest and Iasi
at Total in Bucharest (dates to be discussed)
at Ipsos in Bucharest and Brasov (dates to be discussed)
at Zitec in Bucharest (dates to be discussed)
All these events are only open to the employees and beneficiaries of our partners.
They will be also organizing screenings in 19 rural communities from 7 countries (Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Romania, Senegal and Guatemala) with EduCab and their local partners. When we started screening films in most of those communities it was the first time the community had a cinema experience, so the reactions are amazing! We're in the process of spreading the web of locations, with the goal to reach 50 communities from 17 countries.
As part of their Kathmandu SFB in Nepal, which this year will have it's 3rd edition, they will be also organizing an expedition and screenings in the Everest Base Camp between the 15th and 31st of October!
Their White Night at J'ai Bistro, in Bucharest, will reach its 4th edition during the autumn

Critique for THE DINNER
"Dimitri Argyriou hasn't taken the Greek Weird Wave road in this 2013 production, but a road well travelled. A cheating spouse, a marriage reaching boiling point over a seemingly normal, if not lavish dinner. A masterclass in pace, the two protagonists give subtle, simmering performances complimented by tension building close ups and a quiet, sinister score.
Close ups of the steak knife act as beats on the scene, as the wife gets up and walks out, high pitched Hitchcockian strings bring this boiling pot to fever pitch before cutting away to black.
The fire of the Greeks could have made this scene explosive and obvious, but Argyriou cuts his tension with a steak knife keeping his audience guessing, even after the credits have rolled."

Ο νεαρός σκηνοθέτης Δημήτρης Αργυρίου θα έχει την τιμητική του σήμερα Πέμπτη 21/11 στο Βερολίνο στο πλαίσιο μιας ημερίδας αφιερωμένης σε ταλαντούχους ευρωπαίους μικρομηκάδες. Ο Καβαλιώτης σκηνοθέτης βρέθηκε το 2011 στην αγορά των Κάννών με τo 7λέπτο “R.E.C” και το 2013 με το”One Line”. Το πρόσφατο ” Δείπνο” ήταν στο διαγωνιστικό τμήμα του Φεστιβάλ Δράμας.
